African American Film Festival: Imitation of Life

Imitation of Life" is a 1959 American romantic drama dealing with the difficult issues of race, class and gender. It is one in a special series of films selected by the Delta Cultural Center to be showcased during the month of February, celebrating African American Culture and its influence on the film and entertainment industry. Most who come out for this screening will appreciate seeing and hearing the late, great gospel singer Mahalia Jackson, who is cast as a choir soloist in film and sings the "old-school" spiritual, "Trouble of this World." Don't forget to bring plenty of Kleenex!
