Delta Heritage Tours conducts customized tours of the Arkansas Delta.
The Heart and Soul Tour begins with a visit to an African American Church to experience a stirring performance of Gospel Music. The choir is comprised of locals sharing their talents. Reverend Hughes shares the origin of Gospel and Blues Music. We visit the Phillips County Museum to discover relics from the Civil War Battle of Helena to artifacts from the Edison collection. The Delta Cultural Center Museum explains the agriculture of the Delta as well as the floods of the Mississippi River. A trip to the Delta would not be complete without taking part in the oldest running Blues Radio Program in the country King Biscuit Time with Sunshine Sonny Payne. To experience the tastes of the Delta we visit Granny Dee's where Granny has cook up fried catfish, turnip greens, blackeyed peas and cornbread. To end we enjoy a Blues Performance by Super Chikan who makes all of his own guitars from ceiling fans, cigar boxes, gas can or whatever he can find. When you leave you take with you a true glimpse of the Delta culture and heritage in memories that will last a lifetime.
