DESCRIPTION:The Elaine Lee Street Community Center\n\ninvites you to a service of remembrance\n\nand renewal at 2 PM on Saturday\,\n\nSeptember 28\, at Turning Point Park\,\n\n110 Main Street\, Elaine\, AR\n\n \n\nThat date is two days before the centennial of the violence\n\n that resulted in the death of over 200 African Americans.\n\n \n\nTurning Point Park honors Scipio Africanus Jones\, who was born a slave\n\n and became the lawyer who saved the Elaine Twelve and led a case that\n\nredefined the 14th Amendment\, giving due process to all Americans.\n\n \n\nA descendant of one of the Elaine 12 and a descendant of a participant\n\nin the killing will be honored for their authentic reconciliation.\n\n \n\nFollowing the program\, attendees may find a ribbon closely matching\n\ntheir skin colors. Two people with different colors will tie them\n\n together on our "Together Tree."\n\n \n\nWhile wandering the park to read signage\,\n\nbe sure to pick up specialty cookies and drinks\,\n\n and play some musical instruments.\n\n \n\n This service is appropriate for children\, but children may only attend only with an adult. \n\nThe time for children's activities that weekend will be announced.
