DESCRIPTION:FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE   April 25\, 2018 For more information contact: Kyle Miller\, (870) 338-4350 or (800) 358-0972 Over Here and There: the Sons and Daughters of Arkansas's Delta at War Delta Cultural Center to open new exhibit on World War I HELENA-WEST HELENA\, ARK   To commemorate the centennial of America's military involvement in World War I\, the Delta Cultural Center (DCC) has created an exhibition\, Over Here and There: the Sons and Daughters of Arkansas's Delta at War\, honoring the men and women of Arkansas's Delta counties who answered the nation's call to military service in 1917 and 1918. Grand opening festivities will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday\, May 5\, at the DCC Visitors Center at 141 Cherry St. in Helena-West Helena. The event will open with a remembrance ceremony and the posting of colors. Guests can observe demonstrations performed by WWI reenactors and enjoy refreshments\, in addition to receiving guided tours of the new exhibit. The festivities will run through 1:30 p.m. and the museum remains open until 5 p.m. DCC is a museum of the Department of Arkansas Heritage (DAH). Its mission is to preserve and present the rich and varied cultural history of eastern Arkansas. Other DAH divisions are Historic Arkansas Museum\, Mosaic Templars Cultural Center\, Old State House Museum\, the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program\, Arkansas Arts Council\, the Arkansas State Archives and the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission. -30-
